Colonel Aaron Haliwa, the commander of IDF Base 1, Officers Training Base, on Tuesday stated that the security situation will only become increasingly serious in the future, presenting a graver situation. He stated that the nation’s young is aware of the challenges they must meet – aware of the current realities which demand self-sacrifice, placing the collective good ahead of our own ambitions.
Addressing the Sderot Conference on Social Issues the commander added that without the women, the IDF today would not have a right to existence, adding that his base is short on beds and equipment, since despite it all, there is a demand, many wishing to become IDF officers.
Comparing Israel to the United States, the colonel added that both here and there being an officer is a profession, but in Israel, it is a mission.
