Hundreds of mispallalim davened on Yom Kippur with HaRav Avner Effergan in Petach Tikvah in his yeshiva, Yeshivat Emmet V’Shalom. Mispallalim where shocked to see the sum paid for Neila pesicha by philanthropist Mendy Glick of London. He paid $360,000, (not shekels), for the kovod.
Glick, a Belzer Chossid, is known to be a successful businessman and he has donated a great deal to mosdos in Eretz Yisrael and abroad. He has become very close to the Rav Effergan in recent years. Rabv Effergan has also visited Glick’s office in London and affixed a mezuzah.
Rabbi Effergan of Petach Tikvah is known by many as being a mekubal.

and you really think that if they weren’t selling the kibudim he would have taken the money and spent it at a fancy restaurant or some other non-tsadaka consumption?
It is likely the person was using the kibud to announce a contribution that he had previously decided to make.
Wow. That kind of money could have prevented my suicide.
