For a second time in a week, many but not all Israeli cellular subscribers were late on Sunday morning 11 Tishrei because their cell phones changed to winter standard time during the night. Israel moves to winter time on motzei Shabbos Parshas Noach. However, many not-so-smartphones in Israel and tablet computers moved back an hour nonetheless. The same thing occurred last week to many subscribers.
It is explained the cause for the erroneous time change is the phones have yet to receive software updates that place them in sync with Israel’s new law that extends daylight savings time until the end of October.
Cellular providers have instructed clients to go to the phone’s time settings and change time settings from automatic to manual, only returning the phone to automatic settings after the time is changed to winter time.
