Following the abduction and murders of the kedoshim HY”D, Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Frenkel, Ministry of Education officials are working to develop additional scheduled routes to prevent students from hitchhiking in areas of Yehuda and Shomron. Officials are concentrating on 22 high schools throughout those areas.
The ministry allocated 10 million shekels for organized bus routes, 200 buses weekly bringing students from stops in many cities around the country including Yerushalayim, Netanya, Beersheva, Kfar Saba and more. The same buses bring the students home at the end of their school week. The ministry is working hard to persuade students to take organized buses and to stop hitchhiking.
Rabbi Dovid Rabinowitz, principal of the Mekor Chaim Yeshiva in Kfar Etzion praises the initiative, which he calls very important.

I strongly suggest that until this is fully implemented, anyone who still goes hitchhiking should always, before getting into a car, make a point of calling some friend or relative and giving over the car’s license number and location, and maybe even a description of the driver. Any driver who objects is then suspect and should be reported. Anyone who has any way of spreading this idea around please do so.
We know a woman, who when stopping for hitchhikers, asks them this weeks Parsha. Yeshiva boys think it’s funny, but better safe than sorry. Come up with a question that only a Jew will know.
