Republican Rob Astorino has released a provocative TV spot that mimics a 1964 ad to attack Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
It opens with a child counting daisy petals. A narrator issues a count-down. Then there’s a loud explosion and a huge cloud erupts that morphs into Cuomo’s face.
Superimposed are the words “Andrew Cuomo under federal investigation for corruption, witness tampering, obstruction of justice.”
The voice ominously says: “These are the stakes. Do we re-elect a governor who may end up in jail?”
Cuomo’s campaign had no immediate response Monday.
Federal prosecutors are investigating whether Cuomo meddled with his state-anti-corruption commission. He has denied any wrongdoing.
The so-called “daisy girl” ad helped Lyndon Johnson defeat Barry Goldwater in the 1964 presidential election.

Have you seen Cuomo’s ads? Now, those are extremely provocative. But in the media when it comes to politics especially, it’s different rules for different ….. (mules for those that like to rhyme).
