Hillary Clinton To Accept Job Of Secretary Of State

hill.jpgWashington – Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian UK has learned.

Obama’s advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton’s foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

Clinton would be well placed to become the country’s dominant voice in foreign affairs, replacing Condoleezza Rice. Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defense. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops.

  1. This looks like another Hillary effort to pressure her way into the Obama administration. Isn’t it odd that none of the mainstream US media channels have reported this … yet the Guardian in UK “knows” for sure that she’s been offered the post? There’s one thing about the Clintons … they don’t play by the rules! I hope Obama doesn’t fall for this strong-arming!

  2. Didn’t all the people who voted for OBAMA did NOT want Hillary?

I also think that she is the wrong person for the job. Her husband has way too many connections with many world leaders which may interfere with her judgement in dealing with them in world affairs. It may be more of a liabilty on the administration than a asset.

  3. The Clinton finances will be a huge issue for the Obama transition team to deal with. Bill Clinton’s foundation has taken a lot of money from foreign governments, including Arab governments, creating a potential conflict of interest for Hillary if she were SECSTATE. Bill’s foundation could decide not to seek foreign government money, but that would be very costly. I think its interesting that she’s saying that she’ll accept the job before it has been offered. I’m not convinced she’ll have the job. It sounds like her attitude early in the election season when she assumed she had the nomination all but tied up.

  4. Oy vey! This shtinker again?! We just can’t seem to ever get rid of this obscene shmutz couple.

I think that Obama has been camouflaging his sinister ideas for Israel so far, but this is the way in which he will “stick” us. There can’t be a more damaging choice for this position that this menuv… It’s also going to be very hard for Israeli leaders, whoever they will be then, to challenge her, since she is supposed to have more “experience” in foreign affairs than anyone else.

It seems that all her bothches & blunders (like claiming to come under a hail of bullets in Somalia, kissing Suha Arafat ym”s, and so many others) do not seem to stand in the way of this person’s self-fulfilling agenda. On the contrary, I think that, very sadly, Americans even PREFER someone with some (or a lot of) shmutz on their background check.

This country is in a shameful and tragic state of affairs.

  5. #10, DTW. You bring up some excellent points. At best, that couple is corrupt in more ways than we can count. Further, she does not work well in groups and will cause more headaches than she will ever be worth.

For me, this has put a big dent in trying to be optimistic about the new president-elects’ choices in bringing about “change”.
