Newly-elected Sderot Mayor David Buskila told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Monday morning that the Defense Ministry must do something to bring about a halt in rocket attacks into southern Israel.
Buskila stated it is not his job to decide just how this is to be accomplished, stating if it can be done with talking, this is fine, or by a military incursion or firing into Gaza. He stressed that he is not compelled to provide tactical solutions but he is aware that the Defense Ministry is indeed compelled to bring a halt to the attacks.
Buskila stated that Defense Minister Ehud Barak is not doing enough since the attacks continue – adding he does not plan to spend his entire term in office dealing with rocket attacks, calling on the national government to take the necessary measures to halt attacks.
Buskila added that the rocket attacks in Sderot are not a private matter, but one that should be high on the national agenda.
