On the first night of slichos, Ravaad Eida Chareidis HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita spoke to talmidei yeshivos on efforts to draft them into the IDF. The rav came to Heichal Yeshivos in the Ramot area of Yerushalayim to deliver words of hisorarus to his talmidim prior to reciting slichos.

“We need a great deal of Siyata Dishmaya” explained the rav, adding there are gezeiros that upset HKBH; giyur not in line with halacha, public desecration of Shabbos, the internet entering our homes, and the draft. Rav Sternbuch is concerned due to the lack of achdus among chareidim and as a result, “we lack the koach” that results from achdus.

The ravaad explained that we must be particularly careful to daven with kavona during these days and to respond with kavona when reciting אמן יהא שמיה רבא. He stressed the need to distance ourselves from idle chatting and loshon hora as we must recognize we are being judged.
