The Ala Company that recycles bottles in Israel reports that 59% of plastic bottles are being recycled today, the highest percentage ever. The company feels the program is successful, adding that in the United States only 34% of bottles are recycled. The average recycling of plastic bottles in European nations is 56%.
600 million plastic bottles eligible for recycling were processed in the past years, representing 80% of all bottles of beverages sold in Israel and three percent more than the 77% target goal set by Knesset when the bill was passed into law.
Leading Israel’s recycling are residents of Tel Aviv, averaging 2kg per person. Among chareidim, Bnei Brak leads with 0.52kg per person.

Headline should be written “59 Percent of Plastic Bottles in Israel are Recycled” or “in israel, 59 Percent of Plastic Bottles are Recycled” but as written it means that 59% of the world’s bottles are recycled in Israel, which of course is not what was intended.
