MK Ze’ev Elkin has announced he will not be seeking a seat in the 18th Knesset in the Kadima Party, accusing party leader Tzipi Livni is becoming a representative of Israel’s left-wing.
In his letter of resignation, Elkin stated he did not know where his new political home would be, but he is certain that he may no longer remain in Kadima. Analysts believe Elkin will seek to run on the Likud lineup.
In other Kadima news, Meir Netzan, 76, who lost in last week’s municipal elections after 25 years of service as the mayor of Rishon L’Tzion, announced he plans to seek a slot on the Kadima lineup. According to reports, his move is encouraged and supported by both Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
