Two Arrested at Ben-Gurion Heading to Uman with Forged Passports


arrestTwo Breslov Chassidim were arrested by police in Ben-Gurion International Airport as they were heading to Uman for Rosh Hashanah. The two, a 43-year-old resident of Yerushalayim and a 25-year-old resident of Maale Levana in Shomron are banned from leaving the country. They printed fake passports and tried their luck but were apprehended by customs police. An inspector saw something suspicious on their passports and after closer inspection, determined the documents were fake.

Airport Authority officials report 1.4 million passengers will pass through Ben-Gurion during Tishrei. These days, Sunday 26 Tishrei through erev Rosh Hashanah are high volume days. On Sunday, 60,000 passengers will travel on 394 flights. 56,465 passengers are scheduled to travel on 370 flights on Sunday 4 Tishrei 5775, close to 70,000 travelers will pass through the airport.

On erev Shabbos/Yom Kippur airplane traffic will halt at 14:00. Flights will resume on motzei Shabbos/Yom Kippur. Arrivals begin at 22:30 and departures at 23:00.

The most popular destinations during Tishrei include Greece, Turkey, Italy, USA, Germany, Russia and France.

Officials report that from Sunday until erev Rosh Hashanah, 20,000 people will travel via Ben-Gurion to Uman on 100 flights.
