With Rosh Hashanah 5775 rapidly approaching, MK Rav Yaakov Litzman paid a visit to the elder of the Agudas Yisrael Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah, the Erlau Rebbe Shlita. The rebbe spoke with Litzman about several matters of concern and they ended exchanging wishes for a good year.

The working relationship between Gur (Litzman) and Chassidus Erlau has increased of late as they worked together to battle food chains and convenience stores opening on Shabbos.

The Erlau Rebbe is viewed as a central figure of the Shlomei Emunim faction and he came out strongly against the Tachlis chain advertisements in the HaMevaser newspaper. That was because the rebbe learned one of the owners was David Weissman, who was also a partner in AM:PM, with the latter seeking to operate stores on Shabbos nationwide. This put an end to those adverts in HaMevaser.

Kikar Shabbos adds that Askan R’ Sholom Fischer, who is very close to the Erlau Rebbe and a prominent chossid, has during recent years become closer to the Gerrer Court as well.
