State health officials are advising parents and doctors to watch out for a serious respiratory virus that has infected more than a dozen children in New York.
Enterovirus EV-D68 is a severe respiratory illness that can land children in the hospital.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says this year’s outbreak is unusually serious.
Six other states have also seen cases of the virus, but most kids are expected to make full recoveries.
Enterovirus spreads through close contact with infected people or contaminated objects.
Unfortunately, there is no vaccine.
