De Blasio: NY Will Remain Top Terror Target

nyc2.jpgThe 2001 terrorist attacks are closely associated with a pair of New York City mayors.

Rudolph Giuliani became “America’s mayor” for his display of strength in the hours after the attacks.

Michael Bloomberg steered the rebuilding of ground zero for the next 12 years and became the unofficial caretaker of the civic memory of September 11.

But now, as the 13th anniversary of the attacks arrives, there’s a new mayor. This one has much less of a connection to the city’s darkest day.

Bill de Blasio tells The Associated Press on Wednesday that his responsibility as mayor is to be vigilant against future terror attacks.

De Blasio said that New York is the nation’s top terror target and that he does not expect that to change while he’s mayor.
