In another attempt to shake up the domestic cellular market, Golan Telecom Ltd., controlled by Michael Golan, is turning its attention to the overseas calls and surfing market. For the first time in Israel, a cellular operator is offering a comprehensive package of unlimited overseas calls, texting, and web surfing for NIS 99. The service currently covers 16 countries, and is valid for 45 days. Users exceeding this quota will pay more, but how much more is so far unclear.
Golan’s initiative is coming at a good time for the company before the High Holy Days, when the demand for overseas flights peaks.
