Parts Of Brooklyn To Be Sprayed For Mosquitoes From Tuesday Night 8PM Until Wednesday Morning 6AM


mosqThe city is spraying some areas in Brooklyn with pesticide due to rising West Nile activity from mosquitoes.

The New York City Health Department confirms that five people in New York have contracted the West Nile virus, including two Brooklyn residents.

The city has planned to spray areas of the borough that see a high mosquito population, including parts of Bath Beach, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

The treatment starts Tuesday night at 8 p.m. and will continue until Wednesday at 6 a.m.

The Health Department says to avoid standing water and always try to wear long sleeves to prevent bugs from biting. It also advises using bug repellent.

Residents in areas that will be sprayed are asked to try and stay indoors, and remove children’s toys from outside if possible.

  1. Thank you ny city gov for “protecting” some people from mosquitos and harming more people threw dagerous pesticides. Im not even given a choice if I want to breath it or not.

  2. The chemicals used to spray those mosq killed a whole family in Israel a few months ago. There, it was used indoors. same stuff! poison!
