There is only one Assemblyman in New York City who is running for re-election in a contested primary that voted AGAINST toeiva and that person is Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz. To put this in perspective, almost EVERY elected official in New York voted for toeiva.
Sure, Assemblyman Cymbrowitz supports yeshiva and has fought for millions in increased funding for yeshiva parents.
Sure, Assemblyman Cymbrowitz has brought back million for our community’s best tzedekahs.
Sure, Assemblyman Cymbrowitz is renowned for his great constituent service work.
However, I believe we MUST vote for Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz out of Hakaros HaTov for standing up for our community’s values.

I don’t know him. My feeling is that the only thing he will accomplish by voting against gay marriage is to get run out of office at the next election. That fight has been lost. Gay marriage bans have been overturned in the last 17 states where it has been addressed by the courts (by my count). He cannot stop it.
If he is good for the Jewish community, I would urge him to give up on this one issue, or he will be voted out of office. Live to fight another day.
