On Sunday night the eve of 13 Elul, the officers and soldiers of the IDF Kfir Brigade gathered for the brigade’s annual memorial. The meeting was the brigade’s first since taking part in Operation Brother’s Return, the effort to locate and rescue Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach HY”D.
Among those in attendance was Mrs. Rachel Frenkel, Naftali’s mother, who told soldiers and officers “In the name of all the parents I would like to thank you all, to embrace you, to give you hugs and kisses, from the private to the brigade commander – even to the major-general. We love you all so much. Please look after yourselves”.
Among the speakers was Central District Commander Major-General Nitzan Alon, who praised the performance of the brigade.

I vote Rachel Frankel the “sora Imanu” award of the year. Her actions of ‘Hakarat Hatov’ & raising ‘Kvod Shem shamayim’ in the eyes of Jews & non Jews can not be matched.
Mrs. Frenkel is a remarkable woman with seemingly unending strength. My heart goes out to her & all mothers who tragically buried theiur children HY”D.
