Perhaps taking his cue from US President-elect Barak Obama, MK (Likud) Mickey Eitan is about to become the first Israeli lawmaker who will fundraise on the Internet, intending to show that one may get elected to Knesset without becoming indebted to financial supporters.
Eitan stated the fundraising site will be set up to permit accepting donations that do not exceed election law limits, thereby eliminating any fears of wrongdoing, and he happily adds that this will permit him to renew his place in Knesset without have to fundraise and owe a debt to those who financed his campaign.
