Hundreds of talmidim of Mir Yeshiva will today, 2 Rosh Chodesh Elul, join the search for missing Lakewood bochur Aaron Sofer. Family members accompanied by askanim on Tuesday night visited Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, who agreed to instruct the Mir talmidim to take part in the search. The gadol hador stressed that only Israeli talmidim may take part in the search, not Americans. The rosh yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Finkel Shlita gave the order for the Israeli talmidim to take part in the search.
There are still areas that have to be searched for a first time. Much of the search will concentrate on the Jerusalem Forest area where Aaron was last seen on erev Shabbos. Buses departed at 7:30 AM to transport talmidim from Kikar Zvill and from Yeshayahu Street corner of Strauss. They will be searching for Aaron till noon. Police have instructed talmidim to dress appropriately; pointing out the weather this week is quite hot.
The tzibur is urged to continue being mispallel for the safe return of Aaron ben Chulda.

It’s the IDF, Shin Bet and FBI whom they should use to search Arab homes and their yards – if he wasn’t already taken to Gaza.
If hundreds of bochurim can take time off from seder to search for one lost bochur, why can’t bnei Torah be required to make time to save millions of lost neshomos?

I don’t understand why only the Israeli kolel yungerleit are tasked to search but not the Americans studying in EY? What possible reason could there be for such a distinction??

an explanation I could give is that the Israeli bachurim know the forest better than the Americain bachurim and they won’t get lost as easily

Gadolhadorah: I assume it’s because the Israeli Bochurim are more familiar, and used to, the terain & area. Another reason may be because the coordinators of the search teams, the policemen, Shin Bet etc. speak Hebrew, and that may be the language that the orders & instructions are given in.
