Following the election of Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden to the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the United States, Rabbi David Zwiebel, Agudath Israel’s executive vice president of government and public affairs, issued the following statement of congratulations:

Agudath Israel of America congratulates Senators Obama and Biden on their historic victory in yesterday’s election and offers them our most sincere wishes and heartfelt prayers for success.  We have always enjoyed close working relationships with the White House, irrespective of which political party happens to be its occupant, and we similarly look forward to working closely with President Obama and his Administration in the weeks and years ahead.
