Heavy Turnout Reported in New Jersey


Voters hit the polls running today, with early and heavy turnout reported from sites throughout New Jersey for national, state and local elections.

In Neptune, more than 100 people were lined up prior to 6 a.m. to vote at Green Grove School. In Montclair, at least 50 cars choked the street at 5:45 a.m. outside the polls at Edgemont School. Similar scenes were reported in Denville, Franklin Township in Somerset County, Scotch Plains, Flemington and South Orange.

In Newark, politicians who said they were always the first to vote, were surprised arrive at the polls at 6 a.m. and find themselves at the back of a long line.
