In anticipation of renewed fighting, the IDF has deployed additional troops on the Gaza border. The 72-hour ceasefire which expires midnight has been maintained and barely any rockets have been shot off during the lull.
Meanwhile Israeli and Palestinian delegations have been undergoing negotiations in Cairo to broker a permanent ceasefire. Hamas has been extremely adamant on their demands and fully unwavering.
Some opine that Hamas unwillingness to negotiate stems from strong pressure from Gaza inhabitants questioning the whole motivation of the war if nothing has been achieved aside from heavy Gaza causalities and destruction.
A spokesman for Hamas has said that a imminent deal is near but Israeli officials have not confirmed either way as of yet.
The IDF meanwhile is bracing for renewed violence if an agreement cannot be achieved between the two parties.
