Schumer Takes Aim At Powdered Alcohol

schum2Sen. Charles Schumer is proposing legislation to ban powdered alcohol.

He’s also calling on retailers to boycott its sale when the product hits stores as early as next month.

Schumer cites what he calls the “already massive problem of underage drinking,” drunken driving and other alcohol-related crime on Long Island.

In May, the New York Democrat urged the Food and Drug Administration to prevent the substance from reaching store shelves.

Schumer says powdered alcohol can be mixed with water, sprinkled on food or even snorted and easily concealed.

The parent company for the product, called Palcohol, disagrees, saying it would be painful to snort and would be sold under the same restrictions as liquid alcohol.

  1. Why give this publicity seeker what he wants? Every Sunday he trots out some stupid & totally unimportant demand, which gets him all the attention he wants. Stop feeding his habit…at least one site should be Schumer-free!
