Attorneys General Want Flavored E-Cigarette Ban

ecigNew York’s attorney general has joined counterparts from two-dozen other states urging federal regulators to impose restrictions on electronic cigarettes with a ban on more than 7,000 flavors now available.

In a letter they plan to submit Friday to the Food and Drug Administration, they say limits on advertising and prohibiting flavors besides tobacco and menthol will help protect minors.

They say tobacco companies recognized years ago that flavored cigarettes were for “teenagers” and the FDA banned them.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says that while they contain no tobacco, e-cigarettes have all the same addictive qualities as regular cigarettes, while research shows an “exponential” increase in their use by young people.

In April, the federal agency proposed treating e-cigarettes as tobacco products, putting them under its regulatory control.

  1. It has nothing to do with health and everything to do with lost tax revenue. coffee is also addictive why not the big fuss? the fact is there are no health risks associated with ecigs which is why they white wash it with propaganda and gobbildy gook

  2. Hey, My car is also addictive, so is my cell phone, so is my roof over my head. And you know what else, it’s addictive to teenagers as well. Inappropriate pictures are as well addictive and more than e-cigs have extremely harsh consequences (as opposed to e-cigs which in this article doesn’t claim to have any). Do you want to ban inappropriate pictures? or is this a liberal agenda. “I’ll do away with god created morality and I’ll create my own version of morality.” ie killing people is ok IF I will justify it. Picking ones nose will end you in jail cause I think it’s ugh. What you want to force one to marry a woman? a donkey is nothing wrong either, and it’s evil to force someone to live with a woman! Lets demonize anyone who disagrees with my newly defined morality as fearmongerers.
