A number of rights organizations filed a petition with the High Court of Justice against the Government of Israel, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) and ISA Director Yuval Diskin, for allegedly violating an earlier court ruling which prevents torture of suspected terrorists.
The organizations, including ACRI (Association for Civil Rights in Israel) and The Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, are represented by prominent attorney Avigdor Feldman, who is seeking a jail sentence for Olmert and Diskin as well as fines against the government and Shin Bet.
The suit alleges that Diskin and Olmert are authorizing the use of illegal methods and physical force against suspects in custody. The petitioners refer to a policy that ignores a 1999 ruling of the high court. Feldman adds he has proof which includes testimony from former Shin Bet agents and persons who were subjected to illegal interrogation.
The methods used the petitioners maintain are contrary to Israeli penal law and international law, a type of interrogation known as “required interrogation protocol”, Feldman alleges.

Can’t they just shoot the suspects first and ask questions later?
How about a group standing up to protect ‘settlers’ from undue force from the police and IDF? Unreal, how the human rights groups are all left-wing dingdongs who stand up solely for Arab residents and prisoners.
