Three soldiers of the elite Maglan Unit in the Paratroops Brigade were killed in Gaza fighting on Wednesday, 3 Menachem Av when a powerful explosion resulted in the collapse of the building they were in, a booby-trapped structure.
As the elite force was operating in the Khan Yunis area of Gaza they entered a building in which they found a shaft leading to one of the Hamas tunnels. They conducted the required search to make sure the area was not booby-trapped. They believed the area was clean and made the decision to enter to investigate the tunnel shaft. It is reported there were bombs on the exterior of the building that they failed to detect. As they entered the explosives were detonated and the building collapsed on them R”L. Fifteen soldiers sustained light and moderate injuries.
Killed in the operation were;
Sgt. 1st Class Matan Gottlieb HY”D, 21, of Rishon L’tzion. The levaya will take place on Thursday, 4 Menachem Av at 18:00 in the Rishon L’Tzion Military Cemetery.
Sgt. 1st Class Omer Chai HY”D, 21, from Savion. The levaya will take place on Thursday, 4 Menachem Av at 17:00 in the Savion Military Cemetery.
Sgt. 1st Class Guy Algranati HY”D, 20, of Tel Aviv. The levaya will take place on Thursday, 4 Menachem Av at 13:30 in the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery.
This took place at about 09:00 in the morning.
According to a Breibart report, the building that exploded was another UN structure that was being used by terrorists, a building operated by UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees).

While thousands of soldiers left their families and homes and are in the front fighting the terrorists and over 50 kedoshim and now three more who gave up their lives for Israel, the Israelis picked the best time to destroy Jewish homes in Kfar Tapuach (while hundreds of illegal Arab homes are not ever destroyed). Are the Zionists normal? How can they expect the soldiers not to lose their morale after such cruelty and viciousness – in the 9 days no less? The Zionists are fighting the war against the terrorists with silk gloves but behaving towards Jews heartlessly. The UNRWA and Hamas are the same in Gaza. How could the head say they’ve lost 130 buildings in Gaza. How come the UNRWA operations is mainly in Gaza? They have become complicit in this whole thing. The head of thje agency is talking of a blocade, how did Hamas get the over 800,000 tons of cement that entered Gaza? Was it produced there? Then there is no blockade. Infact Western nations especially the US should stop funding this compromised UN agency. Its now part of the terrorists.
