While Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita has not come out saying bein hazmanim should be canceled, the gadol hador is quoted saying that tiyulim or hanging around on streets is a Chilul Hashem.
The rav during recent days addressed the perilous situation in Eretz Yisrael, stating we are in need of Rachmei Shomayim, “מען דארף האבבין גרויסע רחמים”. It is reported at one point he broke down and began crying over concern for the IDF soldiers who are in perilous danger.
When asked about bein hazmanim the rav did not state definitively but it is quite clear from his words this is not a time for taking trips or interrupting one’s limud. He spoke of the aveira of bitul Torah and the need for continued limud at this time.
When the rav was briefed on the situation in southern Israel and the major Rosh Hashanah attack that was averted her responded, “והיא שעמדה, שבכל דור ודור עומדים עלינו לכלותינו, והקב”ה מצילנו מידם”.

The sad thing is that we need a Gadol to tell us this, and don’t realize it ourselves.
an Israeli Yid
considering that the zchus of the tfilos and learning are needed now, how can any yeshiva even consider closing for a break now? what good is learning in Elul if you dont survive Av?
this is our chance to prove to the Israeli public and to all those in favor of the draft that we really believe that we are doing our part by sitting and learning, and that it is necessary and just as important as an actual soldiers job is. leaving yeshiva in a time of war shows that we are just taking the easy way out
