Brazil’s president is calling Israel’s conflict with Hamas “a massacre.”
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff made the comment while speaking with local media outlets Monday from the presidential residence in Brasilia.
In an article posted on the website of the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, Rousseff says that “I think what’s happening in the Gaza Strip is dangerous. I don’t think it’s genocide, but I think it’s a massacre.”
Israel’s fighting with Hamas has killed at least 1,050 Palestinians, many of them civilians. Israel says 52 of its soldiers have been killed in the conflict, along with three Israeli civilians.
Last week, Brazil recalled its ambassador from Israel, one of the first countries to do so. Israel’s Foreign Ministry expressed “disappointment” at that move in a statement on its website.

Brazil should stick to losing soccer games.
I guess we could learn a thing or two about tolerance from them
Brazils disproportionate sheltering of nazi fugitives safely renders anything they say of little consequence.
Lol…..
Stick to Soccer
Comments # 3,2 &1, you guys are good!
And Brazil’s opinion is relevant why?
its my fervent wish that Brazil be struck by 1,000 missiles this week and a few terror tunnels. I’d love to see how they react.
Disproportionate? I’ll tell what’s disproportionate. Losing to Germany 7 – 1 is disproportionate.
Shopuld the IDF use Jewish children as human shields to make the toll proportionate? If Hamas didn’t hide behind women and children their death toll would be much more proportianate. President Rousseff should discuss their tactics with Hamas leadership who bear responsibility for their civilian deaths.
“Proportionate” responses do not win wars. As President Truman could tell you, it is “disproportionate” responses that win wars.
The idea of proportionate the media wants you I believe is that both sides must have equal looses. That’s a lie. The definition of proportionate according to international law is the MEASURES taken to protect yourself has to be proportioned to the threat For example, if one terrorist shoots at a home a proportioned response would be to flatten the house he is in, however a DISproportunate response is to drop a atom bomb on that terrorists’ city. People need to know this fact in order to educate themselves against the knowingly evil media!
These people are just expressing sadness at the lack of Jews killed.
If Gilad Shalit is worth 1000 terrorists then the killing of 43 Israeli soldiers is equal to 43,000 of them so as it stands now it is far from disproportionate. Another 42,000 would make it even.
Is this Color War or some sports team that it needs to be “proportionate”?
Even if the US had been real allies with Israel and send all their troops to help Israel it would still not be disproportionate as Israel is not fighting against human beings but against animals (verify this with your Bible, Mr President).
So for the record, Israel didn’t kill any civilians – only animals Pere Adam.

They don’t want us to win
What are you guys getting so upset about? He is absolutely right. It is a massacre. A well and bloody massacre. One that Hamas is perpetrating either directly or by proxy against itself. And they think, as they draw their last breath, they will be received in Heaven with fanfare. Well, if Gaza is now hell on earth, it is nothing compared to the reception in Heaven.
Didn’t many nazis run to Brazil after the war?
Brazil is just upset about losers. The Nazis lost in WW2, so Brazil took in the losers. So now also, the Arabs are losing. Btw, congrats on your soccer game.
