According to a report released by Haaretz, the draft ceasefire agreement presented to Israel by the United States on erev Shabbos “contained practically no mention of Israel’s security needs or of demilitarizing the Gaza Strip of rockets”. The draft document also does not permit Israel to continue to destroy terrorist tunnels during the seven day ceasefire.
Haaretz reports it obtained a copy of the one-page document which is marked “classified”. It clearly reveals that Kerry’s interests are not favorable to Israel and his agenda is far from a pro-Israel one.
The Kerry document does however speak of the urgent need to protect Gazan civilians and to prevent additional loss of life. It speaks of achieving a sustainable ceasefire and enduring resolution of the crisis.
The clauses to be agreed to by both sides as reported by Haaretz:
a) Establish a humanitarian cease-fire, ending all hostilities in and from the Gaza Strip, beginning in 48 hours [Sunday evening], and lasting for a period of seven days
b) Build on the Cairo cease-fire understandings of November 2012. This refers to the agreement that followed Operation Cast Lead in 2008.
c) Convene in Cairo, at the invitation of Egypt, within 48 hours to negotiate resolution of all issues necessary to achieve a sustainable cease-fire and enduring solution to the crisis in Gaza.
What is particularly relevant is the draft cites the need to open all crossings, in line with Hamas demands as well as permitting a flow of goods and people to “ensure the social and economic livelihood of the Palestinian people living in Gaza”.
The draft document fails to detail Israeli security needs. It states in generic terms that Israel’s “security needs” must be met. The document mentions that members of the international community would support the effective implementation of the humanitarian ceasefire, including the UN, the Arab League, the EU, the USA, Turkey, Qatar and others. Egypt is excluded.
It is clear from the draft document that the US Department of State has decided to strengthen the Qatar faction at the expense of Egypt and the PA (Palestinian Authority).
Some feel Kerry is selling Israel out while others feel this is his way to make sure there is no ceasefire, thereby permitting Israel to complete the military operation. This is a matter of one’s interpretation and political leanings.

This is faulty logic. Noone, that requires time & effort, does anything that they don’t believe in. The Dems have sold out Israel! So Mr. Jew who are you going to vote for in the next election?
Well, we all know that Kerry hates us, nothing new here.
So many wonderful countries support Hamas except the two countries that would actually be affected by a Hamas reign over the area. Maybe that shows something.
