The extremists, whose remarks were aired on Israel Radio and other stations throughout the day on Sunday, gave the establishment the required ammunition to turn the nation’s focus on the ‘extremist Jews of Chevron’, shifting all of the media spotlight away from the tragic demolition of the Federman home near Kiryat Arba.
The unacceptable remarks were also condemned by MK (National Union) Prof. Aryeh Eldad, Danny Dayan, who heads the Council of Jewish Communities in Yehuda & Shomron, and other prominent leaders and officials affiliated with the political right-wing. This did not suffice and the government is having a media festival as it attempts to de-legitimize the residents of Chevron and Kiryat Arba, opting to ignore the destruction of the homes, without warning, without mercy, an act that left many children and their parents homeless.
At present, government ministers are focusing their efforts on ‘bringing the inciters to justice’ in the name of democracy and justice.
In the meantime, the Women in Green organization is spearheading efforts to rebuild the Federman Farm, decrying the actions of the government.
In a related story, Noam Federman and two others arrested during the home demolition were released by the court on Sunday. It is reported that three soldiers refused to comply with orders during the home demolition, a report that is being adamantly denied by the military.
