UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urges Israel to “exercise maximum restraint” and spare civilian lives in its campaign in Gaza, where the reported Palestinian death toll on Sunday alone passed 100.
He also condemns the “atrocious action” of Israel in Shejaiya, near Gaza City, where a blistering assault that started at dawn killed 62 people and wounded at least 250.
The United Nations chief makes his remarks in Doha, Qatar at the start of a regional trip aimed at pushing for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
“While I was en route to Doha, dozens more civilians, including children had been killed in Israeli military strikes in Shejaiya. I condemn this atrocious action,” he tells a news conference.
“Israel must exercise maximum restraint and do far more to protect civilians,” he says, adding that it also “must respect the humanitarian law” as it presses ahead with a deadly offensive that began on July 8.
“Too many innocent people are dying…(and) living in constant fear” in the narrow coastal strip controlled by Hamas, he says.
“Gaza is an open wound. We must stop the bleeding now,” says Ban, adding that beyond a ceasefire the “root causes of the conflict” must be addressed.

I wonder what does he think of the rockets stored in his school.
With all due respect, Mr. Ban, STICK IT IN YOUR EAR!!!!@
A person is
What his name is
In this case
Kock Er Moon
What about the “atrious actions by Boko Haram. Or the massacres in Syria. But of course, Israel has to be held up to the highest standard, of just staying still and let them destroy us. Oh No. With Hashem’s help, we don’t need their worthless opinions of the United Nothings!!
He is not speaking as Secretary General of the UN (though that is his responsibility). He is speaking as the good for nothing anti-Israel terror lover that he is (though that’s a pretty good representation of the UN). He needs to be sidelined and ignored. He cannot be trusted to negotiate a cease fire.
Did he tell Hamas about their use of human shields? Did he address their years long of terror campaigns?
How has the UN reacted to the 200,000 killed in Syria or the 500,000 Christians purged from Iraq? Utter silence.
He is right the root cause must be addressed the animals must b put back in their cages that will solve a lot of problems some gas chambers for these lowlifes would also b a good idea
I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the “Before” picture
I’m sure he’s referring to the legitimate government action in Syria, or the slave trade in Oman. He can’t be referring to the rocket shelling or the tunnels from Gaza cuz that’s legitimate! So when his glued shut eyes open up, perhaps he’ll know his first name from his last name!
What a dunce! He doesn’t even try to hide the Sinas Yisroel!
Lets ban Ki-moon
U r right, HAMAS HAS ZERO REGARD FOR ITS PEOPLE.
May Hashem give this guy
CANCER!!!
AND LET HIM ROT…..
THESE FILTHY DOG.
Yup. Business as usual for the U.N.
What an idiot!! Let him live in Israel or gaza one day & see whats going on there instead of watching hamas videos!
Israel is stupid! there was no reason for the ground invasion. for the past two weeks thousands of rockets were fired on Israel, they caused very minimal physical damage, not that many wounded and one fatality. Now with the ground invasion, just in two days we already have twenty soldiers dead and more than a hundred wounded. is it worth it? What did we gain? Nothing. Just blowing up and carving out some tunnels. Besides the fact Israel has the entire world watching them killing young children and women, causing rage and hatred around the world. Just today alone they killed 100 civilians in the town of shujaia, I saw many videos of young women and children dead on side walks, hundreds of civilians running for cover and no where to run to. Lose of innocent lives on both sides is very sad. Israel will not gain anything, just a mater of time until next round of fighting, and next time they will be much more sophisticated than just reaching tel aviv. People that see their children and wives dead on the streets and their homes and buildings blown off from artillery shelling by their enemy, not in their darkest dreams would they think to make peace and live side by side with the zionist enemy, the hatred will grow and their fight and resistance will be more legitimate.
it’s an old dumb conflict, both sides are wrong and both are right. Nothing is new and there will never be a solution. A cease fire is not a solution, you don’t make cease fire with terrorists, you finish them off. A cease fire is just like taking a break in between rounds.
The only solution is for Israel to leave Gaza, have Israel push the UN for a resolution to have a UN military force fighting and taking down Hamas, cease all rockets, shut off all the tunnels. This way Israel won’t have to dirty it’s hands and lose many soldiers, let the UN special force do that. Clean all Gaza from terrorists, have the strip be controlled by a UN body. And once that happens, Israel can lift the land and sea embargo on Gaza, and gazans can live a peaceful and have life and leave us alone. That’s the only solution, and without that there will never be a solution.
My message to you Mr ban ki moon, and Mr Kerry, listen to my solution and start working on it today, this is the only way you will address the root problem for both sides, and will have a very long lasting quiet.
Is there any news here? Eisuv soine L’yaakov is already here for thousands of years. Yes and btw the UN General is officialy the top man for all the eisuvs. So what do we expect from him?
Gaza is an open wound. We must stop the bleeding now,” says Ban – an open wound that needs an amputation before it infects the rest of the body!
The UN just returned 20 rockets to Hamas – those are weapons that are only able to be used to indiscriminately kill civilians. I think that at this point the UN has lost all validity and the nations of the world should let them know. Israel should not deal with the UN as they don’t deal with other terrorist organizations. All nations of the world that have any respect should also pull out of the UN. Ban should be arrested and tried for his terrorist actions.
I hope הקב״ה has a special place in gehinom for reshoim like this monkey…

There is a reason Jews and Israel are held to such high standards. We are supposed to be a light of moral and spiritual greatness to ourselves and to the nations. Of course, that’s probably not why so many of the nations hate us. Maybe they’re just jealous.
Excuse me Mr Ban; who is living in constant fear?!
U.N. Secretary General Dumb Gum Jerk should stop sitting on his brain and put it back in his stupid head.
We all know that he is the head of the largest and most useless organization in the world. He totally supports anti-Semitism along with most of the U.N. members and non-members.
He repeatedly states that the U.N. schools in Gaza are neutral territory. SURE. On top of that he is preaching restraint and an end to the rocket fire as well as the bombing, which he blames Israel for. Yet, when his clones found all of the rockets hidden in one of the schools, what did the neutral U.N. do? They gave them back to Hamas instead of destroying them.
The U.N. should be disbanded and Dumb Gum Jerk should be tried in an international court of law for supporting Hamas war crimes.
@pilpel harif
Lolwut.

One thing I can tell you: At least you are not Prime Minister. You are clueless.
