Israel has given its final approval to the deployment of 500 PA (Palestinian Authority) police in the Chevron area, a move that will be actualized in the coming days.

A meeting was held on Wednesday between IDF Commander of Forces in Yehuda & Shomron Brigadier-General Noam Tivon and Commander of the IDF Civil Administration Brigadier-General Yoav Mordechai and PA commanders to discuss the deployment of the PA forces in the area. The 500 will join 700 PA troops already operating in the area.

The new troops will begin in villages in the Southern Chevron Hills area, then move west and eventually, begin operating in the city.
