Israel: Crembo Stats

With the yomim tovim behind us, we traditionally wish one another a “healthy winter”.

In Eretz Yisrael, winter would not be complete without crembo, that glob of cream seated on a biscuit, all surrounded by chocolate, an item that is equally popular in the non-frum, dati leumi and chareidi areas. In recent years, different flavors have been added, but nonetheless, it remains a crembo.

The Israeli crembo market is nothing to be scoffed at, earning NIS 60 annually. 50 million crembos will be consumed each winter season, with the average Israeli ingesting 9 of them.

31% of the Israelis questioned admit they prefer beginning with the biscuit, then working their way to the crème and chocolate outer.
