[COMMUNICATED CONTENT] Yeshivas Lev Aryeh’s Annual Barbeque is a much anticipated event attended by the yeshiva’s alumni as well as friends and parents. This year’s barbeque will be a Poolside Event, taking place on Tuesday July 8th at the home of Yechiel Frenkel at 1172 Coughlin Street. Experienced attendees know that the annual Lev Aryeh event is anything but usual and ordinary, and this year’s Barbeque will definitely not be an exception.
Under the dynamic leadership of Rabbi Yaakov Rapoport and Rabbi Aron Lopian, Lev Aryeh has helped hundreds of teenage boys who did not thrive in the mainstream Yeshiva system, including many boys from Lakewood. The yeshiva is remarkably successful in instilling boys with a love and enthusiasm for learning and Yiddishkeit. Many alumni have gone on to mainstream yeshivos such as Mir, Brisk, and Beth Medrash Govoha.
The Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Rapoport, is an alumnus of the Gateshead Yeshiva and Chevron. He is revered by talmidim as a deep and insightful thinker, and delivers masterful shiurim that help develop each talmid’s capacity for depth in lomdus. His penetrating and mind-opening shmuessen draw on an unusually eclectic array of sources ranging from Michtav M’Eliyahu to sifrei chassidus and beyond.
The menahel, Rabbi Lopian, is a close talmid of the Mashgiach, Rav Matisyahu Salomon shlit”a, and is a grandson of Rav Elya Lopian zt”l: it is a mesorah he cherishes and lives by. As talmidim of Lev Aryeh know, Rabbi Lopian – or “The Rabbi” as he is fondly known – loves his talmidim and cares for them like a father does for a son. He has a keen understanding of teenagers and the challenges they face, as well as the uncanny ability to connect with each talmid on his own wavelength.
But Lev Aryeh is not a “feel-good” yeshiva: Rabbi Lopian demands growth in middos and yiras shomayim from his bochurim, and he somehow manages to achieve this lofty goal.
This year’s event will be the first barbeque in years that both Rabbi Rapoport and Rabbi Lopian will be attending, so it will be a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the Rabbi, the Rosh, and fellow alumni. The Poolside Barbeque will feature a sumptuous menu prepared by the master chefs at Richter Caterers. In addition to the trademark Lev Aryeh fabulous giveaways and raffle prizes, the BBQ will have a very out-of-the-box fund-matching highlight that alumni will not want to miss. Most importantly, the event is a vital component of the Yeshiva’s fundraising efforts, and a time for alumni to express their appreciation in a meaningful way.
