A large inflatable pool was slashed seven times after being installed by a New Jersey-based Orthodox camp – operating at a local middle school property.
The apparent vandalism follows heated rhetoric concerning the camp’s business deal with the East Ramapo School District.
Ramapo Police tell YWN that at about 8:45AM Monday morning, police received a report of criminal mischief at Camp Shalom which is being operated at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School. The criminal mischief consisted of damage to a large above ground pool at the camp. An unknown suspect or suspects had slashed the vinyl sides of the pool several times. There was no water in the pool at the time except for a few inches of rain water.
The damage reportedly occurred sometime between 6:00PM on Saturday night and 8:30AM on Sunday morning.
This incident is currently being investigated by the Town of Ramapo Police Department’s Detective Bureau.
