NYPD Arrest Two Men Impersonating Passaic County Sheriff’s

p

On Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at approximately 5:30PM,  officers from the NYPD’s 43rd Precinct were traveling westbound in a marked police vehicle on East 233 Street within the confines of the 47 Precinct. The officer observed a male driving a 2010 gray Hyundai Elantra with New Jersey plates heading westbound on East 233 Street and texting on a cell phone. The officers conducted a car stop, approached the vehicle and asked the driver to provide identification. The 25 year-old driver, who was wearing a Passaic County Sheriff’s Department shield around his neck and a gun belt around his waist, identified himself as a police officer and provided a false name. Officers conferred with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department and determined that the driver of the vehicle was not a Police Officer and that the shield was stolen from a retired police officer.

Police recovered from the vehicle a stolen Walther .380 semi-automatic firearm and a magazine containing six bullets belonging to the retired police officer. A 24 year-old male passenger riding in the front of the vehicle was also wearing a shield stolen from the same retired Police Officer.
