The Village of Jefforsonville in Sullivan County is being evacuated after flash flooding hit the area. As YWN Catskills had reported, numerous thunderstorms swept through the area, dumping large amounts of rain in a short period of time. A swift-water rescue tear is responding from teh Town of Rock Hill to assist in evacuations. The Dive Team on scene is reporting high waters in much of the village.
Meanwhile, the 911 system is having difficulty covering all of the emergency calls pouring in from residents in Jefforsonville .
In other areas of Sullivan County there are power outages, and Route 42 has been closed in Grahamsville due to flooding.
The severe thunderstorm watch which has been issued by the National Weather Service, affecting Sullivan and Ulster counties continue through 7 p.m.
