October & August Are Baby Month in Eretz Yisrael


According to Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics, more babies were born in Israel during the past three decades in October and August than any other month of the year. Since the 1980s, the October birthrate is higher than other months by about 5%. Since the 1990s, August and October have been fighting for first place, with a miniscule difference between them.
 
October and August are followed by December, July, September, November, March, May, June, January and April. February is the month with the least births.
 
For the sake of comparison, since 1996, 103,000 babies were born in October and August as compared to 88,414 in February.
 
Last year, over 9,500 babies were born in October and August, as compared to 7,800 in February. In 2004, 13,100 babies were born in October and August, 19% more than February of the same year, with 10,963.
