On behalf of the American people I extend my deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families of Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar, and Naftali Fraenkel – who held Israeli and American citizenship. As a father, I cannot imagine the indescribable pain that the parents of these teenage boys are experiencing. The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms this senseless act of terror against innocent youth. From the outset, I have offered our full support to Israel and the Palestinian Authority to find the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to justice, and I encourage Israel and the Palestinian Authority to continue working together in that effort. I also urge all parties to refrain from steps that could further destabilize the situation. As the Israeli people deal with this tragedy, they have the full support and friendship of the United States.

We knew that was coming. This has been the mantra of the US State Dept., going back years. Madeline Albright perfected it and now, I’m sure, Susan Rice is rehearsing it. Always equating the two. Shameful. Very shameful.
Btw, where is Hillary on this tragedy? We know the Jewish Organizations are tripping over each other to cozy up with her as she heads towards her shoe in as next President.

p.s. I do hope that the U.S. does take this tragedy more personally, especially seeing as one of the victims is a U.S. citizen.

Netanyahu has not provided a shard of evidence that this was the work of Hamas. On the contrary the Shin Bet has said that the entire act was performed in an atmateurish way. This could easily have been done by any random Palestinian(s). Yet Netanyahu and the cabinet issue heated rhetoric about destroying Hamas (which they can’t do even if they tried) and making the Palestinians pay.
While Obama probably shouldn’t have mixed this into the condolence message he probably was correct to warn Netanyahu not to use this terrible incident as an excuse for him to try to destabilize the Palestinian unity government.
To #10 and# 11 you are wrong . There is a time to keep silent. Mr. Obama should be the one showing restraint in his dumb comments. Now is the time for Israel to once and for all get rid of Hamas as a political power. They should do to Hamas what Egypt did to the Moslem Brotherhood.

With all due respect to #15, I believe he does not know the way the U.S. works. I am a fifth generation American on one side; my mother was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In this country we respect the Office of President, but not necessarily the current occupant. This is not particular to Obama or any other occupant at the time. It is fine to criticize the actions of the current holder of the office.
Now, as to Obama, his condolences aren’t worth a bucket of warm spit. And if you criticize my use of language, please realize that I borrowed it from a former three term vice President, John Nance Garner, who sed that language to describe to Lyndon Johnson his thoughts on Johnson accepting the offer of the endorsement for Vice President from John Kennedy.

It is one thing to disagree with the President of our country that is the American way. It is quite another to refer to him as a “coward piece of garbage”. That is unacceptable. Senator Rand Paul has recently condemned this type of anti-Obama rhetoric. Furthermore as Jews we are commanded to pray for our country and its leaders. The leader of our country is President Obama whether you like him or not.
John N. Garner referred to his previous job as “not worth a bucket of warm spit (he actually used a different word than spit)”. He was not refering to a person and certainly not to the President.
I agree that it is ‘too little too late’, but it is still significant that President Obama describes the tragedy as an ‘act of terror against innocent youth’
In doing so, he is showing willingness in describing the Hamas ‘government’ – or whomever is actually directly responsible – as terrorists.
And he is willing to describe the victims as ‘innocent youth’ , underlining the fact that the boys were effectively children and that it is wrong to use children in political battle.
Many liberal publications, shockingly, have been describing the boys as ‘settlers’ , a term that suggests moral culpability in their own deaths. Obama has rebutted this suggestion and this is worth noting.
