Rav Cohen Shlita Addresses Vatican Synod


Rav Shar Yashuv Cohen Shlita, the chief rabbi of Haifa, on Monday became the first Jew to address the Vatican’s synod, the governing council of the Roman Catholic Church.
 
Rav Cohen stated, “The Jewish People cannot forgive or forget the Church’s silence during the Holocaust.” Pope Benedict XVI was present when the chief rabbi spoke.
 
Regarding Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Rav Cohen stated, “his anti-Semitic diatribe is a painful reminder of the Holocaust.”
