Report: More Israelis Going to Hotels and Tzimmerim on Yom Kippur

According to a report in the daily Haaretz, more Israelis, “religious, traditional and secular”, are opting to spend Yom Kippur in a hotel or tzimmer. Occupancy in Galilee area resorts for Yom Kippur is reported to be 60%.

According to Meir Levy, who heads the Galilee tourism forum, “All year we host dati leumi families alongside secular guests. The same holds true for Yom Kippur, as many religious guests are taking advantage of the shuls in Galilee resorts and kibbutzim, including pre and post fast meals.”

Levy adds that this year will be the 30th time that a group of yeshiva students with their rosh yeshiva come to a kibbutz for Yom Kippur, holding tefillos together with the visiting tourists and kibbutz residents.

In Kibbutz Ein Gev, on the shore of the Kinneret, the guest houses are filled to capacity. Similar reports have been received from Golan Heights vacation resorts.
