Effective Friday June 20, 2014 The Town of Ramapo Police Department will be deploying Naloxone (Narcan) in the field with the Patrol Officers. Ramapo Police Officers have completed training on how to administer the antidote Naloxone to persons who have overdosed from heroin or other opioid prescription narcotics. The training was conducted at the Ramapo Police Department by Rockland Paramedic Services Chief Michael Murphy.
The NYS Attorney General’s Office provided funding for the Naloxone kits through seized funds from crime proceeds as a result of joint federal and state criminal investigations.
Attached is a photo of the Naloxone kit that RPD will now be using.
