Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit has ordered an investigation into what appears to be a fraud run by Arab residents of Israel who hold Israeli identity cards.

Several hundreds are believed to be employed by the PA (Palestinian Authority), obtaining a salary from Fatah, yet they are claiming and receiving unemployment benefits from Israel via Bituach Leumi (National Insurance).

Sheetrit stated the report is alarming and he is hopeful the investigation will bring an end to the illegal practice.
