Mr. Ezra Shaar, a grandfather of captive Gilad Shaar visited with HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita seeking a bracha from the tzaddik. According to the Kikar Shabbos report, the rav listened to Mr. Shaar attentively and responded in a pained voice “השם יעזור, שיצאו במהרה מצרה ומשביה” .
When Mr. Shaar asked what the family members can do they were told to increase their limud and Yiras Shomayim, instructing the men to learn hilchos shvi’is ahead of the upcoming shmitah year. Women should be stringent to light Shabbos candles before the required time, to accept Shabbos earlier than required.
The gadol hador concluded “שהקדוש ברוך הוא יעזור שבזכות כל הפעולות הללו יראו ישועות בקרוב”

Maybe we, as women can all try to do that and stand together with the families and try to light candles early and on time this Shabbos as well?
I mean early. But at least before the 18 minutes.
Rebbetzin Kolodetsky, Rav Chaim’s daughter, recommends lighting Shabbos candles ten minutes before the official candle lighting time. In other words, 28 minutes before shkiah.
