Despite the ominous terror warnings, the Taba Crossing from Israel to Sinai is open and it will remain open during Rosh Hashanah. The final decision was reached during a Security Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, with the ministers stating the crossing must remain open as per the treaty signed between Israel and Egypt that prohibits closure of the border crossing.
Officials add that first and foremost, the responsibility rests with citizens, who are well-aware of the travel advisories and terror warnings. They must make the decision not to travel to Sinai, to distance themselves from high-risk locations, and take the necessary precautions as per official directives.
Security officials are warning that there are concrete credible warnings of a planned terror attack against Israelis visiting Sinai during Rosh Hashanah. The IDF has issued an order to all its personnel prohibiting travel to Sinai.
