The Knesset is preparing for next month’s swearing-in ceremony for Israel’s tenth president, Reuven Rivlin, who won the presidential election earlier in the week. The date for the festive event is set for Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av.
This is a ceremony involving horses escorting the president elect to Knesset as trumpets are sounded.
Shas MK Eli Yishai has already turned to the presidential elect, calling him with a request that he change the date to avoid the festive event during the Nine Days, days of mourning for Am Yisrael. It is likely that Rivlin will agree to the request as he is known for being traditional in his lifestyle.

Eli Yishai – have you forgotten that you are Sepharadi? We are allowed to eat meat and slightly celebrate on ROSH CHODESH!!!
