The IDF is preparing to significantly expand the military operation in the Gaza Strip, including a large-scale mobilization of reserve brigades.
The decision was made by the government following demands by senior cabinet ministers and due to the lack of progress in hostage deal negotiations.
Ministers have been pushing for the government’s immediate approval of an expanded military operation in Gaza, but the decision was delayed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz in order to first exhaust diplomatic efforts for a hostage release deal.
An Israeli political source denied a report by Reuters on Monday evening quoting Egyptian officials as saying that there was “significant progress” in the talks currently taking place in Cairo.
An Israeli political source said on Monday that Israel had rejected an Egyptian proposal for a five-year ceasefire with Hamas in exchange for the release of all the hostages.
Hamas refuses to consider any suggestion of the terror group laying down its arms as a condition for a deal.

Fools. You don’t need more soldiers entering Gaza. You need to stop sending food, fuel, water, medicine, electricity, internet, and media outlets into Gaza. Then you flatten every standing building with rocket fire from planes and ships. No room to room fighting as that causes soldiers to die. The leadership of the army are mostly bareheaded lefty anti religious bafoons. The real fighters are the religious settlers who are the front lines but cannot move up in rank because they are religious. If the Hamas have no fuel the seventy five per cent tunnels left cannot be used as you need fuel to run the air vents to breath in the underground tunnels. If they don’t get any food and bomb their food storages then the Gaza civilians will attack and loot the Hamas. Israel must send videos to every college showing what happened October 7 and not allow foreign press or any press to keep filming what they do in fighting in Gaza. It should be a closed off war zone. Otherwise anti semitism will continue to grow by leaps. You need Ben Gevir for prime minister. He is the common sense guy in the entire government.
