Am I the only one in this entire country who neither despises nor worships President Trump?
I remember a joke that went around during his first presidency, where they said that if Donald Trump was able to cure cancer by touching people, then the dems/liberals/mainstream media would just complain that all of the oncologists would be unemployed.
But it goes both ways: It seems like if it turned out that Donald Trump kicks puppies in his spare time, then the MAGAs/conservatives/alternative media would say that the puppies must deserve it.
Am I the only person in the USA who thinks that some of the things he does are good, and other things he does aren’t so good?

Let it be pointed out that one can be a MAGA supporter, a supporter of President Donald Trump on most issues, yet disagree with him on some issues. And neither worship nor despise the President, as you put it.
In fact, that is exactly how most Americans are.

No you aren’t. I second your opinion. Not only that but I think you are so spot on.The never Trumpers will never admit that Trump is a huge Bracha for Israel and its current war. Whether it’s the Trump Gaza plan, the fight with the houthis, giving Israel a free hand to do what it pleases, sending all and any weapons needed etc. And fighting anti semitism and the colleges.
On the other hand, the maga folks will never admit that hegseth is a threat to public safety. Or that the Trump Tarrifs are insane and destabilizing in so many ways. It’s out of control. Even his anti immigrant rant and MS13 fights are populist overdone fights. DOGE and empowerment musk like this is crazy too. Although cutting the federal govt is not a bad thing if done wisely.
So yes you have my vote . And both sides are so stuck in the mud that neither can admit the in between
April 23, 2025 12:29 am at 12:29 am #2390945SQUARE_ROOTParticipantPresident Donald Trump is not merely pro-Israel.
He is the MOST pro-Israel President who ever lived.President Donald Trump is not merely pro-Jewish.
He is the MOST pro-Jewish President who ever lived. In other words, there has NEVER been a President
who was more pro-Israel than Donald Trump,
and there has NEVER been even one President
who was more pro-Jewish than Donald Trump,If that does not mean anything to you, then
there is something VERY, VERY, VERY wrong with you,April 23, 2025 12:29 am at 12:29 am #2390955chessParticipantNo, you’re not the only one, as I feel exactly tthe same way. Although I felt that it was very important to vote for Trump in the 2024 election over Harris, I did not support him in the primary. I am registered as a Democrat, but if I were Republican, I would have voted for Nikki Haley in the primary.
It’s hard to believe that Trump or Harris were the best America had to offer, but when it came down to it, it made sense to vote for Trump because of his policy positions in general. Regardless of that, he seems to be doing some damage now and is chaotic more than ever before. Still, there are many areas in which I agree with him (which is why I voted for him). I don’t think that everything he does is good or bad, as it is a mixed bag. But from what we read in this coffee room (as well as in the news and online) it would seem that everyone either despises or worships him. And like you said, people who despise him seem to hate everything he does (and don’t give him credit for anything) and people who worship him love (and always justify) everything he does. To me personally that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but many people in this coffee are exactly like that.April 23, 2025 12:29 am at 12:29 am #2390966daweedh123ParticipantYes, but there is a huge difference between “some of the things he does are good, and other things he does aren’t so good” and “some of the things they do are bad, and other things aren’t so bad” which is true of the Democrat presidents
April 23, 2025 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm #2391262Chaim87ParticipantOne more point, I think the good and bad of Trump is really all one Trump. it just sometimes works in our favor and sometimes it does not. Its really one rash behavioral altitude. Either he hates something or loves it. He goes full throttle once he forms his belief and there is no budging him easily. So this is good for us when it pertains to israel. No nonsense and no monkey business with terrorists and its supporters. But for example tariffs, reducing size of govt or immigration require a more nuanced balanced approach. With trump you get one pckaage deal. His “middas” are a blessing and curse
April 24, 2025 5:57 pm at 5:57 pm #2391531mobicoParticipantYup, I feel the same way.
We just may be the silent majority – becuase it’s just not worth getting into it with either extremiist group.April 24, 2025 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm #2391755KuvultParticipantSquare Root,
If you believe Trump won’t pressure Israel to agree to things they’re against (or even consider dangerous) if he wants to make a deal with Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. then I have a building in Gaza City zoned for a Yeshiva to sell you.April 24, 2025 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm #2391770GadolhadorahParticipantIf the “good” and the “bad” were roughly balanced, I’d agree with you but some of us feel it has been skewed in one direction. Even more troubling is the recent trend to legally justify just about any form of retribution against his perceived enemies by arguing that it is somehow justified punishment for some alleged anti-semitic act(s). So under this logic, its ok to revoke funding for some cancer research project because the hospital doing the research is affiliated with Harvard or Columbia.
