Leftist protesters held a “chometz protest” outside the home of Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman (Likud) on Monday morning, the first day of Chol HaMoed in Israel, spreading dozens of pitas outside her home.

The leftists, who engaged in the same type of anti-religious protests before October 7, feigned concern over the hostages by tying the protest to their plight, writing “one pita a day” with the pitas as a reference to the starvation rations the hostages receive in Gaza.

Silman, formerly a Yamina MK, brought down the Bennett-Lapid government three years ago over the Health Minister’s order to allow chometz into hospitals on Pesach in violation of Israel’s religious status quo.

Silman responded to the provocation by stating: “Pesach, a street with mostly religious and mesorati people. These scum come have come to spread pitas on the street., It’s not for the sake of the hostages, it’s not for the sake of democracy, it’s not even for politics.”

“It’s only because they are despicable people who lack basic human values. Zero consideration for others, zero respect for Judaism, and zero culture. Absolute zeros. The vast majority of the Am is disgusted by them. Chag Sameach!”

  1. The Israeli left regards the frum community as a mortal enemy. The origins of zionism lie in the desire of the seculars to be rid of us. They were very upset when the Nazis killed secular Jews as well as us, or when the Communists persecuted all Jews not just frum ones. Baruch ha-Shem, the Palestinians are fanatic Muslims who find the left-wing, socialist, libertine, secular life-style of the Ultra-Secular Israeli ruling class to be disgusting which precludes them forming an antif-frumkeit alliance with the secular Jews.

  2. what was the supposed point of this? is there some magical significance? hametz on the street is not a violation of pesah, it’s just littering. and a deplorable waste of food.
